The Consumer Rights Protection Centre (CRPC) has adopted a decision to restrict access to the websites myfragrance.lv and fragrancemy.lv due to significant violations of consumer rights identified in their operations.
During its investigation, the CRPC received multiple consumer complaints regarding perfumes purchased online. Consumers reported cases involving products that did not match their orders, damaged or previously opened packaging, as well as concerns about the authenticity of the products. Consumers also experienced difficulties contacting the seller, encountered failures to honour withdrawal rights, and were unable to obtain refunds.
The CRPC established that the websites did not provide clear and legally compliant information about the trader and failed to inform consumers of their rights in relation to distance contracts. As a result, consumers were unable to identify the actual seller and effectively protect their rights in the event of a dispute.
The CRPC repeatedly invited the website operator to remedy the identified violations and provide explanations; however, no response was received. Since the violations remained unaddressed and the continued operation of the websites posed a significant risk to the interests of Latvian consumers, the CRPC adopted a decision to block access to the websites.
The CRPC encourages consumers to always verify the identity of the seller, check the availability of contact information, and review the terms and conditions of distance contracts before making purchases online.
If consumers suspect unfair commercial practices, they are encouraged to report them to the CRPC.
