During Financial Literacy Week, the Consumer Rights Protection Centre (CRPC) invites residents who are experiencing difficulties in making timely payments on loans or other financial services to take advantage of free individual consultations.
Rising living costs, unexpected expenses or changes in income can lead to situations where credit obligations become difficult to fulfil. In such cases, it is important to seek solutions in a timely manner and contact specialists, as early action can help avoid additional costs, contractual penalties or the transfer of debt to collection.
During the consultations, CRPC specialists will explain consumers’ rights and obligations in their relationships with lenders, as well as inform them about possible solutions, such as revising the repayment schedule or reaching other arrangements with the lender. Guidance will also be provided on how to act if the debt has already been transferred for collection, information on refinancing options, and practical advice on personal budget planning.
Consultations will be available:
- In person – at CRPC premises, 55 Brīvības Street, Riga;
- Remotely – online via the MS Teams platform.
Consultation hours:
- 16, 17, 18 and 19 March from 9:00 to 15:30;
- 20 March from 9:00 to 14:30.
Participation in the consultations is free of charge, however, the number of places is limited. To register, CRPC invites residents to call +371 6545 2554.
To ensure a more efficient consultation, CRPC asks consumers to prepare in advance a list of all current financial obligations. It is also recommended to obtain credit reports from both credit information bureaus – AS “Kredītinformācijas birojs” and AS “Crefo birojs”.
CRPC reminds residents that the sooner solutions to financial difficulties are sought, the greater the chances of resolving the situation without significant additional costs.
