On 17 September 2025, a meeting took place between the Consumer Rights Protection Centre (CRPC) and representatives of the Fintech Latvia Association.

The discussions focused on issues of key importance both for consumer protection and for the development of the sector:

  • The quality of loan portfolios and factors essential for an objective analysis of the situation.

  • Financial literacy – how both CRPC and the industry can strengthen consumer understanding of their obligations and responsibilities when taking out loans.

  • Promoting consumer financial awareness and the obligation to provide accurate information about income, expenses, and other liabilities, which directly affects credit risk assessment from lenders’ perspective.

  • The impact of artificial intelligence on the volume and quality of complaints received. Both parties also shared experiences in using AI tools in customer service and complaint handling.

Zaiga Liepiņa noted: "Such open dialogue with the industry helps to build a safe environment for consumers, enabling them to understand their obligations and borrow responsibly. At the same time, it contributes to a sustainable financial environment in Latvia, which is essential to ensure that consumers have access to innovative, understandable, and convenient financial products."
